The iconic Hotel has been brought back to life. Established in 1877, the Criterion is set to re-establish herself as a classic pub. We offer a tantalising glimpse into the past, with the public bar being restored in true colonial style, where there is an emphasis on local beers, ales, and food from fine local producers too.
Upstairs are six cosy double rooms, The Gentleman’s Room (where women are welcome!) is an oasis of calm and comfort. The perfect place to relax and enjoy the company of oneself or friends. The snug, just off the main bar, is decorated with temperance posters, which are bound to raise a smile about our history.
The formal dining room has been restored to her former glory and is the ideal place to sit and relax with honest tasty dishes. The menu is simple – maybe a little quirky, but delicious.
The Criterion Hotel offers good old fashioned hospitality and an authentic heritage experience. But come and see for yourself!
